Can you take a bet when the chances of success are 10%?
The biggest difference I see between a Great Leader and a Mediocre one is their ability to keep playing even when the chances of a positive outcome are very less.
Most Leaders are too afraid to take that bet and go ahead with the project or send a detailed proposal (on which they spend a lot of time) or travel huge distance for a meeting if the chances of success are low. They neither get their outcome (because they never tried) not they get the respect because they never tried :)
These Leaders are filled with Mediocrity.
Great Leaders on the other hand play a lot of hands. They take more chances. They make bold bets.
The only way to become Great is to take bets that most won’t and make them work. And this would mean a lot of misses - which is fine :)
Playing reasonable moves with a high chance of success makes you GOOD. It doesn’t make you GREAT.
Greatness comes with playing or trying even if the chances are reasonably low.
