Here’s the formula:
inherent smartness and problem solving ability
specialist in 1-2 domains and a generalist overall
extremely coachable and adaptable (most important)
intrinsically motivated and highly ambitious
very very hard and long working
professional chemistry with the person who is hiring
good at hiring other folks
believes in some work life balance but not too much (you need people in the beginning who go all in with you)
Hiring tip: You probably can't be the Google of 2020 in terms of compensation or perks, but you can be like the Google of 1999 if you already have good answers about your mission and team.
