When Leaders ask me what can they do better to up their game I tell them: positively surprise your team, manager, peers etc.
Positive Surprises are underrated. Most of the time we all do what we are “supposed to do” but real joy comes from positive surprises.
go that extra mile in ensuring that you’re deck is brilliant
go that extra mile with data and find out stuff that others have missed
go that extra mile and be prepared about the meeting by reading every single thing about the person / company
make notes of every conversation
And of course positive surprises don’t come without intrinsic motivation. I would recommend the book “Drive”. Amazing read!
During interviews also I look for people who positively surprise me with something or the other. This one time while interviewing a candidate I noticed that she had purchased Unacademy Subscription before the meeting and had notes ready about what we can do better.
