Society flourishes when we have transparent games with transparent scores. Games which do not have a barrier to entry (to play them) and where the score is transparent and leads to great outcomes. These Games level the playing field.
The three characteristics of Transparent Games are no barrier to entry to play, completely transparent scores and life-changing outcomes when you win.
It doesn’t matter if you went to a not so good school or college, you can get one of the most coveted jobs in India by cracking an exam. Or you can get into a college which will eventually lead to great outcomes. The worst performer of an IIT still gets a better job than the best performer of a Tier-2 college.
It doesn’t matter if you were rejected in 100s of auditions, you can make videos and put them on YouTube. If you spend time on the YouTube Studio App, it’s like a Game. A Game that gives you real-time feedback on your videos and helps you become a better Creator. All of you must have heard about Mr. Beast, he is one of the most famous artists of our times and he is a product of Transparent Games.
I went to a college where we only had IT Services companies coming for Placements. Through CodeChef, I got exposure to jobs in other Tech companies that paid five times more. My college did not matter because I had something to show on my CodeChef profile.
Some of the transparent games that have changed our world:
Test Prep Examinations
YCombinator
Creator Platforms (YouTube, Twitter etc)
Competitive Programming (CodeChef, Codeforces etc)
We must work on building more Transparent Games. These games push the world towards a better direction. At Unacademy Group we are working towards building a Product in this direction. We should launch the beta version of the Product very soon.
What are some of the Transparent Games that you have observed?
Entrepreneurship (Startups) in the general sense of it, it's so easy and affordable to start a startup today and anybody from anywhere can create one where the upside is exponential
